These are my genealogy pages, I've only been doing this for 3 or 4 years now, but I'm afraid it has now come to the point where its almost become an obsession with me. I've found great pleasure from discovering who my ancestors were, where they lived and just as importantly, how they lived. To this end I've been reading and researching the Scottish Coal Mining & Iron industries, as a great number of my ancestors seem to have been employed in these areas from at least the early 1800s.
If I ever find the time I intend to put a page up for each of the family lines I'm researching.
But for the time being, here's part of my family tree (somewhat sparse on foliage I know!)

To view more click the wee tree
My more recent ancestors are from Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and Fife in Scotland.
My Rouse ancestors who worked in the pits of Ayrshire & Old Monklands
can be viewed by clicking here! A potted history of the family moving from Ireland to Scotland can be seen by going to these pages
here!
The more I research the more I've found that a lot of my people moved across to Scotland from Ireland, and from what I've discovered so far, from Ulster in the North in Counties Tyrone, Derry and Cavan. You can search the database at the Ulster Historical Foundation to see if anybody else is researching your Irish names from here: Search Database Or if you'd like to search Scots Origins Online for your Scottish Ancestors' Births, Deaths or Marriages click here:

As a large proportion of my folk worked in the mining industry, and I was brought up in a mining community, I've developed a great interest in the mining industry which has resulted in the creation of a series of pages about mining in Scotland and in particular my home county of Lanarkshire. I've also put together some pages to support the Rootsweb Scottish-Mining list, you can find them here! On those pages there is a lot of information on mining in different areas of Scotland & photos relating to list members' mining ancestors. I've also got some pages under development on the Scottish Iron Industry, and would greatly appreciate any material or information on this topic.

One of my other interests is computer graphics, I play around a lot using various programs, but in the main I use Corel Draw & Corel Photopaint. I like creating Celtic knotwork, some of the which you can see on these pages, if you'd like to use it on your website, feel free to do so, but please don't mess with it. Here are three downloadable maps (complete with obligatory knotwork!) I've created, that I use for my desktop wallpaper! once again feel free to use these maps but if you want to use them on your website, my only request is that you don't alter them in any way, and I'd appreciate an acknowledgment of authorship :-)
~Scottish Counties~ ~Ayrshire Parishes~ ~Lanarkshire Parishes~
Click on them to view them full size,
the maps linked are 800x600 for Lanarkshire & the Counties map. Unfortunately the Ayrshire map had to be 800x955 to make it legible!
If you'd like 640x480 versions of the smaller maps then let me know.
A new addition (13/Jun/99) is a scanned modern map of Glasgow it can be found right here!

for a screensaver (1.3Mb) I created from photos taken in Scotland in 1997. Bear in mind it'll take a wee while to download due to size, but it has photos from Lanarkshire & Argyll.
